Senator Anne Ruston
Hi, Mr. Matthews. Um, I'm just wonderingwhat progress has been made towards um areplacement agreement for the umNational Mental Health and SuicidePreventionum agreement um given we had a 12 monthsextension to allow more time um in orderto consider the replacement agreement. So, where are we at with that? Senator,
Dr Liz Develin
I'm I'm happy to advise that mentalhealth and health ministers met asrecently as last week to talk about uhthe future agreement. There is nodecision yet as to the time frame forthat, but it is an active conversationbetween health and mental healthministers across the country.
Senator Anne Ruston
>> So when does the 12-month extensionexpire?
Dr Liz Develin
>> At the end of June 2027.
Senator Anne Ruston
>> So June 2027. Um so has there been umany money allocated over the forwards
Dr Liz Develin
uh the the bilaterals which is wherelargely the funding goes is is has atermination largely in 2027.
Senator Anne Ruston
>> Okay. So
Gavin Matthews
>> there are some there are some elementsin there that are you know areprovisioned ongoing and some are not. Sothere's a bit of a variation in there. So Senator
Senator Anne Ruston
>> Okay. Is it possible to get the um thebreakdown of of those that areprovisionedis there have did the ministers to thebest of your knowledge have a commitmentthat they would have this agreement backin place by the>> or a new agreement in place sorry by theJune 2027.
Dr Liz Develin
>> So obviously the options open toministers are to extend or negotiate a afurther form of agreement.
Senator Anne Ruston
>> Okay. Um so there's no sort of necessarycommitment in relation to absolutelyhaving it in place by the 30th of June2027. So there is the prospect ofanother rollover is still very real.
Dr Liz Develin
>> I think all ministers really appreciate[clears throat] the importance of theagreement and particularly the fundingthat is provided under it. There's alsoa very live conversation obviouslyaround the need to provide certainty tothe sector because we appreciate a lotof NGO partners funded through theprograms under the agreement.
