Senator Matt O'Sullivan

>> Thank you very much. Uh so I've provided some documents to the secretary if we could get uh them all tabled together just then when I when I come back to it it will be a more efficient way of prosecuting it. Yeah. Great. Okay. So I'll uh in the meantime so I'll come to those documents in a moment but I will go back to this uh back to this matter related to the uh research security and um confine my question to to is Miss Jage if you could let us know about uh the research of the researcher collab collaborations and what you've done since March and since this correspondence that we refer to here uh and has there been any further correspondence

Ms. Jasmina Joldic

>> um thank you Senator um I will refer to one of the things that we have done um to my earlier response in relation to the threshold standards They are currently being um looked at and uh we're looking to providing further advice to government in due course once we have completed uh the consultation process. Um we also in terms of

Senator Matt O'Sullivan

just just enlighten me what are you so

Ms. Jasmina Joldic

>> so you

Mr. Tony Cook

>> changes to the threshold standard

Ms. Jasmina Joldic

>> changes to the threshold standards. I'm sorry I'm speaking really quick. Um so we you asked me earlier about the advice that has provided to the minister in relation to strengthening the threshold standards. Uh we are now in the process of um as legislated consulting with the states and ter providing advice to consult with states and territories as well as TEXA. Once we have received the feedback um as part of that consultation process, we will find we will provide our final advice in terms of what the threshold standards should be updated um and how how we legislate this. So that is one part of um strengthening um research security in the system. The other part

Mr. Tony Cook

>> basically center of the proposal is there will actually be regulatory standards around research security and the threshold standards. So TEXA will be able to then regulate universities in terms of the the measures they put into place around research security that doesn't exist in the threshold standards at the moment. So that's the that's an overarching piece of work we're doing on research security and might also talk about >> the you work around researcher to

Ms. Jasmina Joldic

have gone a bit more. I should have been more about that.

Senator Matt O'Sullivan

>> No, that's helpful. I just getting across it. So the there's been reports and we hear of dubious relationships and collaborations. What does the government know about this and what concerns do you have uh and what are you doing about it?

Ms. Jasmina Joldic

>> So as mentioned then

Senator Matt O'Sullivan

>> is essentially the thrust of my question.
