Senator Penny Allman-Payne

>> thanks chair I'll be quick um just around the SRS review my understanding is that the um review of the SRS basin loadings methodology is due to begin in the middle of or early next year. Could you just clarify for me when that review is due to start and when the um terms of reference should be published?

Ms. Meg Brighton

>> Um Senator um you're right, you've probably got those dates from the better and fairer schools agreement. Minister's made a decision to bring forward the SRS review. We are going through the final process at the moment with education ministers to seek agreement uh to those terms of reference with a view of starting the work uh shortly. So I'm expecting we're starting the work um early next year or this side of Christmas early next year.

Senator Penny Allman-Payne

>> Okay. And will the terms of reference be published?

Ms. Meg Brighton

>> That'll be a matter for um education ministers but we will be we will be consulting quite widely on it. Um

Senator Penny Allman-Payne

>> okay. Um next question. Why has the report by the National School Resourcing Board on state and territory compliance with section 22A of the Education Act for 2024 not been finalized and when will it be tabled in Parliament and then when will the 2025 report be tabled?

Mr. Tony Cook

>> Yeah.

Ms. Meg Brighton

>> Um, thanks Senator. The 2024 report, the NSRB needs to consult with states and territories on the report. Um, and uh that uh report is still going through its final stage. um of the consultation. Um once that happens, it'll go um to Minister Clare and then it will be tabled uh in Parliament. Uh I don't have a timeline on the consultation. Um uh I'm hoping it will be before Christmas um that that will be uh finished. As to the 2025 year, uh I might just have to get some help from my colleagues on the timing of when that one might be available.

Mr. Tony Cook

>> 2024 year.

Ms. Meg Brighton

>> The 2024 year is the one through consultation.

Mr. Tony Cook

>> That's right. that'll come through short shortly

Ms. Meg Brighton

>> and 2025.

Mr. Tony Cook

>> Uh well that whole process has to begin >> for that process. >> So Senator just in terms of timing

Senator Penny Allman-Payne

>> when that process will begin for 2025.

Ms. Meg Brighton

>> So Senator I'll just check my notes here about the 2025 the process the board has only just gone to market for the um uh expert analysis to assist them with that work. So the 2025 uh report um once they procure uh the entity to help with them with the analysis that will go through its process and then it would generally be um in late 2027 >> that that report would be available to the parliament is the general um

Senator Penny Allman-Payne

>> okay and one last question sorry >> didn't mean to cut you off um just one last question I know the education minister's meeting is next week what day next week is that meeting happening on >> Great. Thank you. That's all, Chair. Thanks for fitting me in.

Senator Marielle Smith

>> Thank you, Senator Allman Payne. Um that does conclude our questions for this outcome. So, thank you to officials for your appearance today. And I'd like to call um representatives from Aara. Are they in the room? >> just to be clear, I'm not dismissing early childhood representatives from outcome one. Yes. Sorry. >> Only schools and youth. Thank you.

Speaker 14

>> Good thing to clarify.

Senator Marielle Smith
