>> Very good. Um, in your answer, you outlined facilities and infrastructure being developed for construction of hostel defense ship building Australia of the landing craft heavy and landing craft medium vessels commencing this year. Contingency docking capabilities for Australia's future conventionally armed nuclearpowered submarine fleet from the early 2030s and depo level maintenance including graving docks by the late 2030s. Um in that quan there was no mention of the Magami class. Why
David Hanley
>> Uh Senator that um it's an oversight. Um we will be building ship building and ship sustainment facilities for the fleet that will be in being in Western Australia. Uh that will include facilities that will support landingcraft heavy, landingcraft medium um and construction of Magami.
James Paterson
>> Right. Okay. So just just an oversight on the quan. Right. And so um what is the timeline for Magami class facilities to be available at Henderson?
David Hanley
>> So Senator, the plan is to um start construction for um the ship building and ship sustainment precinct >> in time to support landingcraft heavy and medium first. So that is beginning um later this year, early next year. Y >> um and for that will include the facilities to do consolidation if you like of the landing craft heavy. >> um those would were originally planned to be temporary facilities but now we're going to build permanent facilities. So those facilities will be able to cater for both Magami and Landingcraft Heavy.
James Paterson
>> Yep. So it doesn't need to be separately developed. It will be the same facilities and Magami can be constructed after landing craft heavy and craft
David Hanley
medium continuous naval ship building. So the idea is to dovetail one into the other. Correct Senator?
James Paterson
>> And we are on track for Magami to be constructed at Henderson from which
David Hanley
>> Beginning prototyping will begin 2029 Senator.
James Paterson
>> And and when will construction at Henderson begin?
David Hanley
>> Shortly thereafter.
James Paterson
>> Okay, great. Thank you. And that's on track.
David Hanley
>> Correct Senator.
James Paterson
>> Very good. Um so in that quan uh you outlined some pretty high level milestones. Is there a document that's got more detail um about that a master schedule or or similar for Henderson that sets it out in more specificity?
David Hanley
>> There there is a uh level zero schedule senator is what we call it which has got the major phasings. Um >> on there will be the construction of the facilities the key facilities like the construction hall by example. >> Yep. And on top of that will be u when we start construction for lencraft heavy medium um and mami
James Paterson
>> and can that can that document be
David Hanley
>> I I'll take it on notice to provide it s
James Paterson
um while just here while I've got you is there more detail that you can provide about the timeline of key deliverables or decision points for Anderson?
David Hanley
Senator I can. So um you would have seen recently around August time frame um Minister Miles announced the sighting precinct. Yep. Um which was the area the spatial area where the um precinct will be for both ship building ship sustainment and nuclear power sustainment. >> Um the task from now through to the end of next year is to do what's called concept design. >> Um that will uh be the 30% design milestone. um for the area. Um we're doing that in packages of work based on the priority of work. So you can imagine some of the key milestones like the contingency dock for nuclear power sustainment is the first work package we're doing right now. Um and then we'll do a phased approach to that through to the end of next year and then we'll have our 30% design.
James Paterson
>> So the 30% design will be available when?
David Hanley
>> At the end of next year.
James Paterson
>> End of next year. Okay. Thank you. And
David Hanley
at that time we will then start turning soil in earnest for the majority of the facilities that we plan to have on on the precinct.
James Paterson
>> What's the next uh design milestone after 30% design?
David Hanley
>> Uh it's really a construction milestones from there on Senator. So we we've we will refine the design of course as we go forward but we're into construction. So we'll do early works starting next year. So things like moving breakwateraters u dredging where we need to do dredging um that'll be like mid 2027 through to 2028. Then we'll start um concreting and digging up the sites and reclaiming land where we need to reclaim land. So that will proceed 28 29 etc etc. So there's it's more of a construction schedule that takes over from the design schedule just like any other project would senator.
James Paterson
>> Okay. All right. Well look forward to what you can provide on on notice on that.
David Hanley
>> We'll do.
