Senator Matthew Canavan
>> All right. Thank you. Um keeping on the Bruce Highway theme might um go to the Tyro bar bypass. Uh can I just get uh and it probably isn't the detail that you've given us. Um I haven't been able to find it, but can you have you got the funding profile for the Tyro bypass project?
Andrew Bourne
Yes, Senator. So um for the tyro bypass the profiles over the um are 25 26 2.2 million for 2627.5 million for 2728 39.2 million 2829 86.5 million 2930 57.2 million
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> and 3132 or sorry
Andrew Bourne
>> nothing further the 2930 is the final
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> 2930 is okay sorry you had it the other way around. Okay. Um, all right. How much is that in total?
Andrew Bourne
>> Uh, the comwalth AG funding is 268.8 million of which I think we've spent 12.2 of it. So 20 let's say it's 2 56ish
Senator Matthew Canavan
million. >> But it's expected to be complete in
Andrew Bourne
>> Mid 2029 is the okay >> is what we've got on the milestone
Senator Matthew Canavan
payment in that year.
Andrew Bourne
>> Yeah, that's that's practical completion with the
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> All right. Uh, is it still in design
Bill Brummitt
>> Uh, Senator Bell Brahma. >> Um, assistant secretary, uh, TMR's completed, uh, all of the work in relation to scope, detailed design, and delivery options that represent best value for money.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Okay.
Bill Brummitt
>> Business case.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Is there an expected construction start
Bill Brummitt
>> Whoops.
Andrew Bourne
>> I think we're expecting to get their delivery PPR in early 2026, the project proposal uh report.
Bill Brummitt
>> Yeah, that's
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> okay. And so perhaps sometime early 26. So now basically
Andrew Bourne
>> y around around this time frame.
Senator Matthew Canavan
Presumably another year or so you'll be putting out to tender or some such
Bill Brummitt
>> Uh I mean those details will be in the PPR but okay that's expect.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> All right. Um it certainly needs it. Uh I know there's a bit of contention at the time of pushing for it but the last few times I've driven the road there's actually traffic jams in Tyro now, believe it or not. Um and I'm told there actually 11,000 vehicle movements uh on that section of the highways per uh has there been any discussions with the Queensland government about actually extending this fourlane section uh through to Marabara perhaps or somewhere closer along the road?
Bill Brummitt
>> Uh Senator, nothing that I'm aware of. The focus very much is on getting getting the Tyro bypass itself uh into construction.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Okay. Um how how do you have sort of a a range from which you know uh vehicles per day would trigger consideration of a fourlane upgrade? Is there a benchmark ballpark figure?
Andrew Bourne
Uh, I don't think we necessarily have one, but we but that's part of the planning work and and prioritization that the Queensland government would do, Senator, to determine whether it need to give it give a bit of a sense of when that project might become a priority for
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Right. Okay. Okay. All right. Um, do you know I mean do you keep stats on how many vehicle movements there are per day on other parts of the National Highway
Jessica Hall
we um it's probably a question best placed under our transport or to our bureau but we do um
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> sorry what was that the transport
Jessica Hall
>> uh >> under our transport group or with our bureau when we do outcome number two. We can come back in regards to that. Um but yes, we do keep a um a monitor I suppose of certain types of vehicles and information on the national land transport network depending on the issues that we're looking at.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Right. Okay. Can you tell me I mean flick me to come too if you want but how do you divide that up? Uh do you divide the national highway network up into sections for the for the to provide that
Jessica Hall
data? Uh, I'd have to talk to the freight data and stuff like that because it might be more around heavy vehicles, for example, as opposed to
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Okay. All right. Um, I was going to move on to New South Wales Pacific Highway. At last estimates, I did ask some uh detail questions about a number of uh well, I called them sort of legacy things. The interchanges, intersections. I know much of this highway is now four lanes and divided. Well, actually all of it I think is four lanes and there still the coffs harour bypass I believe to go to get rid of the traffic lights that remain. Um but there are still some interchanges uh that are a little dangerous at times. I didn't really get an answer. I asked about uh particularly five different interchanges and there was pretty generic sort of um response in return. Can I just ask again? I I did ask. So the ones I was interested in were Houston Mitchell Drive, Lakes Way, Mile Road, Falford Road, and Wooden Road. Has there been any investigation of these into what's happening on those particular parts of the Pacific Highway?
Speaker 24
>> Uh Lock Potter Kerry, assistant secretary of New South Wales and ACT infrastructure. um the the the three interchanges that the Comwalth has committed funding for to look at which we talked about last update um Senator uh Buckets Way, Madawi Road and Italia Road. Yep. >> So the other ones you mentioned there is no
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> there's no funding at the moment for them. >> Okay. Uh those three then we'll start there. When are they expected to be up or how long are they expected to take to be upgraded?
Speaker 24
>> So this is a planning project. Um we talked about another one that is for delivery which is the Koopenook and Harrington Road. I can provide you an update on that if you like. Um that planning work is due to commence later this year. Um there's been some early consideration of the Italia Road um intersection because there's a quarry along that road. Um but expecting the planning work to to start later this
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Okay. All right. But you don't have end dates, do you? for when they'll be >> up at this stage. All right. Um uh okay. All right. Well, we've highlighted those and they I'm told that and they do some of them I do know from driving it. They they are a bit of an issue. Um moving on to beef roads. This was one I also had a question on notice back. This one was uh 243 from the committee question number. uh and uh this a very useful actually answer uh actually for a change so I don't know if I'll get the people who wrote this in trouble but uh actually gave me some good information um uh for everybody too so uh in this answer asked about beef roads and you mentioned there's still 60 km of the Clammont Alpha road that is unsealed uh and that the beef road strategy plans to seal approximately 40 km. Uh so can I just confirm that 20 km remain unsealed after the completion or the roughly speaking after the completion of the beef roads program
Bill Brummitt
>> on the Claremont Alpha Road? so it's 178.5 km long, 118 sealed already, 60 km unsealed. as the Quan notes the there's 5.7 kilometers being sealed through that particular project. Uh and then there will be five 17 30 35 km. I mean this is if the full scope of the program >> is sealed. There's essentially two CL there's 5 km of sealing set to be done through the early works package on the Claremont Alpha Road. Uh and then if if the full uh there's 24 projects in total in the beef roads in the uh well uh uh if there are 24 projects in total in beef roads including the five early works projects and if if if it was poss if it's possible to deliver the full scope of of that within the available $500 million of funding uh then uh I think it was 30 35
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> 35 km left unsealed >> 35 alpha >> Sorry. >> Oh 35 sealed.
Bill Brummitt
>> So yeah
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> and 25 then would be left. Yeah. You had in the answer approximately 40 km. So you're rounding up I suppose but you're saying it's 35. So it' be 25 km left to seal on Claremont Alpha. Um I suppose. Well, how much is that costing that 35 km of ceiling? Do you have a a budgeted estimate for how much that would expect it to cost?
Bill Brummitt
>> Uh the early the early the early works projects u approximate these are approximate costings senator uh 5 million uh and uh 5.5 million uh and then the packages in the in the main works uh there's um uh 8.8 8 km. Uh uh uh 18.5 km. >> That's >> Well, sorry, that's cost. Uh
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> yeah, I'm after cost. Have you got those yet for the main project? Have you got a budgeted amount
Andrew Bourne
>> It's around about 83 million.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> So 83 million for we said 35 km. >> Okay. I'm just interested how much it's costing these days.
Andrew Bourne
>> Yes, that's correct, sir.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Things seem to have gone up a bit. So it's 2.3 million a kilometer. Yeah, I suppose everything
Bill Brummitt
>> varies significantly depending on the
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Yeah, everything's expensive I suppose these days. Um well, I might try and go through the other roads if that's possible. Is it really important um for our area? So, I'm happy to go quickly if you can. What I'm interested in is how much you're expecting to seal. Uh how much would remain unsealed and well just give me how much you're expecting to seal. I can work out how much is left. Um, so how much you were expecting a steal on each road and how much you budgeted to cost. So let's go Alpha Tambbo next.
Jessica Hall
>> Um, yes, Senator, if we just read through our table
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> or whatever you've got. Yeah, as long as it's not I mean, look, you can do it. But yeah, I'm really just interested in the overall. So I don't need individual, you know, you divide it up into individual projects. I'm really just interested in for the length of the Alpha Tambbo Road, for example. How much are you sealing and how much is it
Andrew Bourne
>> Yep,
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> that makes sense. Yep.
Andrew Bourne
>> Okay. For the Alpha Tambbo, it's 20 km It's five. Yes. >> I'll just add I'm just adding them up as we go, Senator.
Jessica Hall
>> That's why I thought it might just be
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Well, I'll read them out if you like.
Jessica Hall
>> Okay. So, Fitroy Development. Fitzroy development. >> I I'll just say Fitzroy development road. We've got um a length of um 4 + 12 + 14 + 15 + 12 + 7 + 3 + 3.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> that's it.
Jessica Hall
>> Yep.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Okay, great.
Jessica Hall
>> Um on Alpha, we've done Claremont Alpha Road. We had three. Have we done >> I think we've done M Downs Road. >> Yep. We've got uh six plus 9. >> Um then we've got Jura Ringa. Apus Creek Road um I think is eight. Um then we've got Dawson Development Road um will be 20. Um then we've got Kil Common Diamond Downs Road which will be 15. And then we've got Glenroy Road which will be 15.
Senator Matthew Canavan
All right. Thanks for that. Do you have costs across those?
Jessica Hall
>> Yeah. Yes, we do. Um, in total, do you want me to just give you the total for
Senator Matthew Canavan
each >> maybe? Oh, for each road corridor. That'd be great if you've got it for the each corridor. Yep.
Jessica Hall
>> Yep. So, um, I'll start with the easier ones so that they can start adding bits and pieces up for us. Um, so on the Kilkcom Diamond Roads, uh, it's 46, >> right? Um on the Glenroy Road um it's uh about 18. Um on the
Bill Brummitt
>> Fitzroy is 81.
Jessica Hall
Um I think we've done the alpha, haven't we? Have we done?
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> No, not alpha. No, not alpha.
Jessica Hall
>> Alpha tambbo. We haven't done the total. Alpha tambbo was um
Andrew Bourne
>> 7 just correct that >> sorry, Senator, just on the Fitzroy development, right? I think the the approximate cost is around about 178 million.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Yes, it looked a bit cheap there, but anyway. Okay.
Jessica Hall
>> So, Alpha Tambo is um I think 31. >> Um then we've got the Claremont Alpha um is
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> We've done that one.
Jessica Hall
>> We've done that one. 83. Um then
Andrew Bourne
>> you done May downs.
Jessica Hall
>> Uh May downs. I think I've done >> No, I haven't got May 49. >> 49. >> Uh what have we got left? Dawson Development Road. >> Um is around
Andrew Bourne
>> 53.
Jessica Hall
>> 53.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Yep. I think we've got Juringa Apus to
Jessica Hall
go and then we're done. and during apes is 23.5.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> 23.5. Cool. Thank you. That's uh that's very useful. Um we'll be able to see there will still obviously be some uh amounts unsealed left. I I presume we did go over this last time and I think there would been an announcement just before estimates. So has there been any other developments in terms of project selections meetings with the councils on the beef road since we last met?
Bill Brummitt
>> Uh Senator, nothing. Nothing further. Um beyond the fact that the the rain around Claremont has caused some delay in the project that's under construction.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Yep.
Bill Brummitt
>> Uh I also just just uh to be clear in reading out all those numbers that's on the assump you know the C including the projected costs um you know that's on the assumption that um that the full 24 projects can be delivered.
Senator Matthew Canavan
>> Yeah. So these are just budgeted costs. They're not you haven't tended for most of these obviously at this stage. >> Correct. Uh and presumably you have some escalation factors in there. Um that's
Bill Brummitt
