Speaker 5
>> Right. Okay. Have we got an answer yeton whether or notum that that cost of the steps programwill be included in the cost base?
Mr. Matthew Gson
>> Um Senator, my expectation is that itwon't um in terms of the capital cost. There might be sustainment ormaintenance costs um that that arepotentially like when we run systems, wedo include those costs in our costbaits. It's a standard operating cost ofthe organization. Uh but in terms of therecovery of the capital component, I
Speaker 5
wouldn't expect so.>> But when you say wouldn't expect so,there hasn't been a decision made.>> I don't think there's been a decisionmade.>> Can we just check that? I mean, it's Idon't think so on that, but surely.Well, because what I'm particularlyinterested, I suppose, in in the costbase that you've used to calculate thefunding gap in the myo measures and whathave you. Is this is there a capitalcharge associated with the steps
Ms. Tina Hutcherson
investment in those figures? So not forthese cost recovery arrangements. Thesteps program um is a direct benefit toum our import arrangements. The programthat I'm talking to u for exports doeshave sustainment when the programcompletes which it will at the end ofthis financial year. Um it has an amountof sustainment that has been provided bygovernment. Um so we will be able tomaintain that system into the future. Um
Speaker 5
in the quiz it says that uh the costrevenue gap has also emerged because andI quote indirect costs such as workplacecompliance activities and digitalservices has increased. Presume thedigital services is what we've just
Ms. Tina Hutcherson
discussed isn't it? Is that right?>> Um digital services can be made up of anumber of different things. So there'sthe specific programs um that we havethat enable um the work to be done. Whatwe refer to as our business or digitalbusiness programs. And then you have awhole lot of IT um and related costs uhthat to a large degree and the and theCFO can or the CIO can speak to umdigital costs and the and the cost ofrunning digital systems. So the factthat um cloud services for example costsincrease um that drive into costrecovery arrangements.
Speaker 5
>> Okay. But why have they increased?
Ms. Tina Hutcherson
requirements.>> So year one year for example cloudservices the cost of having all yourdata in the cloud will go up. So there'san increased cost um and that cost willbe distributed across the department
Speaker 5
proportionally.>> Right. Um what about the workplacecompliance activities? What does thatrefer to?
Ms. Tina Hutcherson
>> Um>> uh so that relates to corporate costs. So I will um get more specificinformation for you about that. Senator,
Speaker 5
>> no one has anything on that. Okay. SoI'm just quoting your own report.>> Okay.>> All right. Umuh what what is my core sustainment?
