>> all right. So um I also have gotquestions around the transition ofAustralia's economy to net zeroemissions by 2050.um how manyuh agencies are involved within thisdepartment on reporting on thattransition of the Australian economyspecifically aroundum there's been the government has madeprojections around the size of therenewables and the green economy. Um weI know that we track emissions andemployment numbers and salary numbersfor coal mines, for gas companies, uhfor energy companies. What what agency within this departmentor what section within this departmentis tracking jobs and salaries and valuefor the green economy.
Ms Kushla Munro
So Senator um again I think that goes touh sort of the first question you askedabout the you know the entities that youknow that this department is responsiblefor or in the portfolio uh which we tookon notice. I think more broadly thoughum the the government uh produces anannual statement and uh reports on thatuh every year and the the next one willbe coming out actually before the end ofthe parliamentary year and that is wherewe provide the most comprehensive uhupdate on uh what is happening across uhthe uh I guess the economy that'srelevant to both the energy transition
Susan McDonald
to understand is who in the departmentis responsible for measuring andtracking that data.
Ms Kushla Munro
>> So I guess in the department uh we dohave a central policy area um that youknow that uh looks at a number ofindicators uh in terms of what isactually happening uh across theeconomy. Um just as an example uh youknow we will look at and use data interms of what's happening uh with thethe sales of EVs. What does that looklike for EV charging? So there's a wholeraft of of different

I'vegot analysis under the TreasuryDepartment of the of the decline of thatindustry and I'm just seeking tounderstand what what data is beingcollected and managed and by whom on thenumber of jobs and the salaries that arebeing generated in the uh in the clean
Hon Tim Ayres
there are set of uh kind ofcategorization issues there that I thinkuh so I mean I'm thinking about my owndepartment's work in this area right sonot sure it actually>> to the extent that to to the extent thatI mean this this department'srole is to essentially guide thedevelopment of a new electricity systemand deal withyou know future investments in criticalminerals production that are electrifiedcount as green jobs? I don't know. Idon't
Susan McDonald
>> Well, somebody should know, Minister,
Hon Tim Ayres
because you keep it's not I don't thinkit's very useful. I mean, what I thinkis it's about new industrial jobs. Uh,and um, I don't get too hung up on thekind of porative labels for these
