Senator David Shoebridge
Do you still support a committee being established to monitor ABC and SBS news coverage?Do you still support establishing a committee to do that?
Jillian Segal
No, Senator, I I think there was just a mis misunderstanding and miscommunication. And and I did not express it clearly enough or well enough. What I do support is that there should be not a committee, but an independent whether you apply it in the groupor um uh new of um some of that reporting uh as has been done in the United Kingdom with hindsight. It's not a monitoring uh of uh things as they are being reported.Uh it is a review looking historically at uh what has been said.I still stand by that because I I think that uh would would clear the air for everyone.Um but but I think that that that is something that was uh an issue for the Royal Commission, but it is is uh is something that we will have to look at for the future.
Senator Jana Stewart
I know the time to thank you very much, Senator Shoebridge.Uh I understand that's all the questions that the committee has for you this evening.Sigal, uh appreciate the time that you've given the committee.Uh you go with our thanks.
