Senator David Shoebridge

>> Indeed. Thank you, chair. And and I'm sure I'll be assisted in that by um pity and direct answers um which will is how >> I was asking questions about parent visas and the impact of ministerial direction 117 on um parent visas. What do you understand, Mr. Willard, will be the impact of ministerial direction 117?

Michael Willard

Uh so for [cough and clears throat] parent visas there's another um factor which is the the queueing system that we have for parent visas >> and there's also a ministerial direction in effect that relates to Q dates as well.

Interjection

>> Yes.

Michael Willard

>> So the the the broad impact is is the same in that in that onshore is prioritized but the existing Q dates >> um still remain in effect. So, um, if you already have a Q date that determines your priority, but for people entering applying and and entering into the system, then their onore applications are prioritized.

Senator David Shoebridge

>> This is the retention of ministerial direction 103. Is that right? Which is a carve out of 117. >> So, the Q date is retained. But in terms of the ability to make an application onshore, um um will if a parent is visiting, they won't be able to make an onshore application because going forward there'll be a no further stay condition.
